  15. I'm having a bitch of a time trying to get a captured piece of 
  16. video composited with a logo animation done in Lightwave, 
  17. using alphachanneling in ADPro/Fred.
  18.  
  19. What I have is:

  21. - a sequence of captured video (captured using the Personal 
  22. Animation Recorder, then saved as 24 bits iff's);
  23.  
  24. - a sequence of a flying logo done in Lightwave, also saved as 
  25. 24 bits iff's;
  26.  
  27. - a sequence of the alpha channel, generated by Lightwave, for 
  28. the flying logo sequence.
  29.  
  30. Now I want to do an overlay of the second sequence on the 
  31. first sequence, using the alpha's from the third sequence.
  32. Manually this goes allright, using the compositing feature of 
  33. ADPro, but to do this for 250 images I'd have to be insane.
  34. Therefore, I tried to achieve this using Fred. I set up the 
  35. three different sequence files, saved them as .seq's, then 
  36. started up AnimOps/Compositor.
  37. As sequence 1 of 2 I defined the video sequence, using 
  38. 'transparent color' settings R:-1, G:0, B:0 and the 'mix from' 
  39. settings 0,0. I set the inframe, duration, skip and offset 
  40. correctly.
  41. As sequence 2 of 2 I defined the logo sequence, using the 
  42. alphaLogo sequence as the alpha channel to be used. Doing this 
  43. resulted in the 'transparent color' and the 'mix from' fields 
  44. getting ghosted. Here also inframe, duration, skip and offset 
  45. as they should be.
  46. As loaders I selected universal for both.
  47. I set up the results panel as usual, just setting the output 
  48. sequence and the image root name. Also here the correct number 
  49. of total frames, skip frames and process frames.

  51. Now I thought everything would go alright, but to my surprise, 
  52. the only thing that happened was that AdPRo loaded an image 
  53. from the video sequence and then saved it under a new name.
  54. I experimented with the 'mix from' settings, but this had no 
  55. possitive effect.
